As women’s rights come up on a century of being one of the most talked about issues, there is a growing curiosity as to what the role of a woman should be within the Christian faith. Scripture specifically talks about this issue many times. Today’s post though will take a layman’s approach to the issue, and provide a rough guideline that every woman should follow.
A Dedication To Jesus And The Scripture
Much of this post is going to focus on the way that Christian women should feel empowered amongst their own people and the world at large. Before all of that though, women (and men) must be willing to submit themselves to the power that stands out above all others: Jesus Christ.
For a woman to be deserving of independence and power in this world, she must be willing to give it up for eternity to her saviour. This does not make a woman weak, and it does not mean that she must submit herself to a man (Jesus is more than any man after all). It simply means that she has given herself over to a greater cause, the greatest of all causes in fact.
A Sense Of Pride, Power, And Importance
Woman was made from man and women are meant to hold fast to that first created partnership. This does not, however, mean that a woman should be subservient to a man. All are equal in the eyes of God, and women should never forget this.
This means that women should go about their lives with the ultimate measure of self-confidence, and that they should do anything an everything within their power to be the ultimate witness for Jesus Christ. Every soul that has been saved by Jesus has a large role to play in the saving of the world, and all women must be ready and willing to take their place on the front lines of the “ultimate” battlefield.
A Willingness To Do Anything For The Cause
Certain sects of Christianity right now are embroiled in a great debate. The roles of women in the church are being hotly contested. In reality, there shouldn’t be much debate. Women are meant to be on the same level as men, and thus should be allowed to perform the same roles within a church setting.
If you’re wondering about your specific role in the church, and whether you should temper your expectations: don’t. Everything from pastoring to greeting should be open to you, and if a certain role isn’t being opened because of your gender then it is time to find a new church.
Christian women have a very important part to play in the grand scheme of things. In the coming years and decades, they will see their roles and influence expand exponentially. This is an exciting prospect for the Christian world, and may be the tipping point that leads to the next great revival. Only time will tell.
