Basic Prayer App Information:
iPrayU is a Christian prayer app for iOS and Android smartphones as well as the Web.
The iprayu prayer app also has a complete series of training videos at Youtube which can be accessed through this page by clicking the embedded video below.
So what’s this prayer app all about?
First it should be noted that this prayer app ISN’T designed for personal devotions. If it’s personal devotions you’re seeking, look for any other variety of apps that help you mix and match praise, Bible reading, AND your personal prayer requests. If you’re looking for something more formal to pray with the church, you are likely seeking something like and app that helps you pray the Liturgy of the Hours or a digital version of the Book of Common Prayer. While a number of good apps exist to help you do all these things by way of personal devotion, we’re considering apps that a local congregation to build a well functioning prayer team.
One church renowned around the world for such a ministry is the Brooklyn Tabernacle. In addition to a huge congregational prayer meeting each week, they have a prayer team that 1) receives prayer requests from all over the world and 2) pray systematically for requests for 30 days (or as long as they are refreshed in their system.)
Most churches simply don’t have the organization to solicit those prayer requests online or in person, track the prayer requests, actually PRAY, and then monitor the the status of these prayer requests over time. At best they may receive written prayer requests, have a website with an online prayer request form that sporadically receives prayer requests, etc. but no system in place to assemble the prayer requests, make them available to prayer team members, and track outcomes.
iPrayU Prayer App Syncs with the iPray Prayer Book
The iPrayU prayer app is designed to give ANY church the capacity to create an organized prayer ministry. The app, developed by James Buckman, the pastor behind the book iPray: A simple Prayer Book for- Ministry, Mercy and Multiplication, helps churches implement the plan outlined in the book. In other words this combination of resources was created so that any church of any size and any budget can start exercising prayer based ministries of internal pastoral care as well as visitor care and community outreach.
When prayer requests become the foundation of each church ministry, it’s easy to assess at a glance what the persistent needs of a congregation and community are. If everybody is asking for prayer for a job, for instance, it’s pretty clear the community (or the segment the church serves) has an economic problem. Instead of devoting limited resources elsewhere, they might be assembled to tackle the income problem people are facing. Makes sense right? But without real “grass roots” data, aka prayer requests, people may really not know what’s going on.
The best thing about these prayer apps and website are that they are completely FREE. James Buckman’s ministry subsidized their creation and subsidizes their ongoing deployment. Like any ministry, he’s happy for donations, but this tool is designed so that any church can participate. It’s also designed so that smaller churches can be part of a national network of prayer.
How your church can be part of a national Christian prayer network for free!
How does a church that yesterday had no prayer ministry become part of a national prayer network? Easy.
Anyone downloading the app in the US can request prayer through it. They simply open the app, press the button that says “prayer requests”.
They are taken to the iPrayU.org website (while inside the app) and asked to enter their zip code and a distance for a Google search. The user then simply chooses a local congregation (or several) and asks for prayer!
You can see a live prayer request page here…
The local church(s) selected will receive a notification email and have the prayer request added to their database.
Each participating church, then, simply has their prayer team members log on and pray for these request. The church prayer coordinator or pastor also attempts to assign the request to a particular ministry so that the people behind the prayer request get any other practical help they need.
Note: At the present time, most churches will rarely if ever receive requests in this fashion from random individuals. BUT even the church without a website or only a Facebook page that joins this network suddenly has the capacity to share online prayer request forms simply by promoting the iPrayU.org link online or on social media!
Most churches will simply enter their internal prayer requests by hand. They will usually gather these requests for prayer in person, by prayer request cards in the offering, or by phone call to the church office.
The iPrayU Christian Prayer App and the iPray Prayer Book are a powerful set of prayer tools for the Christian church or house church even that wants to create or renew a strong prayer ministry and have prayer become the basis for everything they do as a congregation.
